THE RESERVE BANK. THE WEEKLY STATEMENT. ASSETS AND LIABILITIES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 26. A Gazette issued to-night contains the following statement of the assets and liabilities of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand as at the close of business on Monday, May 23: —

GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The demand for seed wheats has continued steadily this week, and indications (point to a heavier sowing than was the case last season. There is also a keen inquiry for linseed and partridge peas, but little interest is being taken in most of the smaller seeds. Following are quotations to farmers, on trucks at country stations, sacks extra unless otherwise stated:— Milling Wheat—May delivery: Tuscan 5s Bd, Hunters 5s lOd, Pearl 6s (all f.0.b.) Fowl Wheat—F.o.b., 5s Bd.

Oats —Cartons, to 2s 9d (A grade), 2s 6d to 2s 8d (lower grade); Algerians, 2s 6d to 3s; Duns, 3s to 3s 6d (according to quality). Ryegrass—Perennial, 3s 9d to ■ls 6d; Italian, 2s 9d to 3s 3d.

Cocksfoot —7d to 9d. Cowgrass—7d. White Clover—Bd to lOd. Chaff—£4 10s (according to quality). 'Partridge Peas—First quality, 4s 9d to 5s 6d; f.a.q., 4s 6d to ss; undergrade, 3s 6d. Flour—£l3 15s 6d. in 2001 b sacks. Bran—£4 15s to £5 5s (local price). Pollard—£6 5s to £G 15s (local price).

Potatoes—£3 5s to £3 10s a ton. Onions—Turbatt, £9; Globe, £8 10s a ton. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. JAPAN OPERATES FREELY. SYDNEY, May 26. At the wool sales ,to-day Japanese buyers gave excellent support, while France, Germany, and Italy operated satisfactorily. Best descriptions ruled in sellers’ favour. Greasy merino made to 18d. The average price of wool for the first three days of the week was £l2 11s 7d a bale, or 9.9 d per lb.
