Sergeant C ;> Murphy, of Christchurch, is relieving at the Ashburton Police Station while Sergeant J. F. Cleary is on annual leave.

Dr. James Lyon, examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, who visited New Zealand in 1934, will conduct practical examinations at Ashburton about the end of September, according to advice received at Ashburton.

Mr D. J. Doak, of Wakanui, was presented with a miniature cup by the president of the Mid-Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union (Mr L. 0 Oakley) this morning for his win in the annual shoot of the Union held in Ashburton recently.
