President Roosevelt will shortly ask Congress for a deficiency appropriation of 20,000,000 dollars to start the immediate, construction of the warships authorised under the nava expansion programme, thus ansnenng those critics who contend that the “Super Navy” Bill was merely bluff. Under the present plans the United States have building programme will reach a record high level in 1939, with more than 100 vessels under construction, including: six super dreadnoughts, giving 500 warships.
