BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS.
ITS VALUE EMPHASISED. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 20. The recent statement by the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Eraser), indicating the postponement of consideration of religions teaching in public schools, was discussed at a meeting of the Dominion Council of the Bible-in-Scliools League. The following tions were carried unanimously. (1) “That the Dominion Council of the Bible-in-'Sehools League welcome the proposal of the Minister of Education to arrange for. consultations with representatives of the churches and other organisations interested 1 with a view to arriving at a solution of the question of religious exercises and instruction in primary schools raised in the Education Amendment Bill.” (2) “That the Council express its willingness to appoint representatives to attend wherever such conference oor conferences may be held.” (3) “That the Council express appreciation of the fact that the Education Amendment Bill recognises the place of voluntary religious instruction in the educational system of New Zealand.” (1) “That the Council strongly reaffirm the high value of daily religious exercises and draw attention to. the Widespread approval of these exercises in the community.”
