THE OBJECTION BY THE COUNCIL. MAY BE HEARD ON JUNE 10. The sitting of the Ashburton Assessment Court for the hearing of the Borough Council’s objeetiain to the 1938 valuation list has been tentatively fixed for Friday, June 10. The Council raised an objection to the list following receipt of a petition from about 100 ratepayers and against the advice of some members decided to revert to the list in use last year. This decision, however, was later held to he out of order, and as the time for lodging objection was long past, the' Council asked the Government to grant a special new date. This was agreed to on the ground of “misadventure” on the part of the Council, and an Order-in-Council was issued accordingly,
