THE WEATHER.
FINE AND WARM TO-DAY. Fine, settled weather with bright sunshine, continued in Ashburton today. There was an early morning frost of degrees, but conditions soon warmed up. Although there was a cool wind from the north-east yesterday, the thermometer rose to 60 degrees in the warmest spell. For a time last night the sky became overcast and rain seemed likely. The clouds were -but passing, however, and the sky was clear again this morning. The minimum temperature last night was 33.8 degrees. The barometer stood at 29.93 inches this morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather General inference: The anti-cyclone reported recently is moving eastwards off the North Island. A depression is approaching across the South Tasman Sea, while another is centred northwest of Norfolk Island. Pressure has risen again over South-eastern Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: —
Light to moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather fine at first but gradually clouding over. Temperatures mild. Seas slight.
