THE WEATHER.

WELCOME CHANGE TO-DAY. A welcome jhange in the weather took place in Ashburton to-day after a bleak, miserable week-end. Although somewhat chilly early this morning, all rain clouds had disappeared and bright sunshine prevailed. On Saturday seven points of rain were recorded, the sky was overcast and the weather cold most of the day. The maximum temperature was 58.3 degrees and this fell to 54.1 degrees in the night. There was little improvement yesterday, when four points of rain fell. The maximum temperature was 56 degrees, and this dropped to 43.7 degrees last night. The barometer yesterday and this morning stood at 29.99 inches and 30.04 inches respectively.

BRICHT DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The heavy rain which set in last Wednesday ceased early this morning. Brilliant sunshine was experienced today.
