EXPENDITURE IN BRITAIN. (United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, January 24. Public bodies authorised by the Minister for Health borrowed £22,231,605 for capital expenditure during the filial quarters of 1937 an increase of £2,750,000 over the same period in 1936. Barowing of nearly £10,000,000 was sanctioned for housing, and large sums were also authorised for new and better schools. Loans authorised for the erection of gymnasia and swimming pools, and for the purchase of land for playing fields amounted to more than £860,000. —British Official Wireless.
