DECISION REGRETTED.
AIR DISPLAY AT HENDON. (United Press Association—Copyright.l LONDON, January 20. The decision to abandon the Royal Air Force display at Hendon, which is admittedly the most spectacular of its kind in the world, will cause great disappointment. The public regarded it as one of the leading events of the London season, and it attracted distinguished persons from throughout the world.
The attendance last year totalled 179500.
AN EXTRAORDINARY RECORD. THE DISPLAYS AT HENDON. (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON I ’, ’ January 21. The Royal Air Force displays at Hendon, the discontinuance of which has been announced, had an extraordinary record of success. Only one airman met his death during the 18 years since their inception, and no spectator has ever been seriously hurt.
The Air Force charities, which benefited annually by many thousands of pounds from the display, are not likely to suffer, as they will receive contributions from the Empire Air Day displays. The Empire Air Day attendance throughout England in 1937 totalled 345,000.
