LATE COMMERCIAL.
THE LONDON WOOL SALES. ' FIRM LIMITS PREVAIL. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, January 20. Firm limits continued to prevail at the wool sales to-day, but bidders were anxious to buy and withdrawals were negligible. Yorkshire was attentive to crossbreds, in which New Zealand met an active demand. At the wool sales 6470 bales were offered, including 1966 New Zealand, and 5847 were sold. There was a fairly good selection with a strong demand from the Home trade who, despite -Continental competition, secured the bulk. Rates were firm. : New Zealand greasy crossbred, Owetea, sold up to 12Jd with an average of 12fd; scoured crossbred lambs, Napier, 15d to 17 Jd."' 1

Butter is slow. [Danish, 132 sto 1345. Choicest salted New Zealand, 110 s; Australian 109 s; unsalted New Zealand 113 s, Australian Ills to 112 s. Cheese is quiet. New Zealand white 69s to 69s 6d, coloured 70s; Australian white coloured, 67s 6d. BRADFORD TOPS MARKET. (Received This Day, 12 noon.) LONDON, January 20. Prices at the Bradford tops market are: —Merinos seventies 29d, sixtyfours 274 d, sixties 26£d, .crossbreds fifty-eights 23$d, fifty-sixes 22id, fifties 18 Ad, forty-sixes 18d (nominal), fortyfours 18d (nominal). The market is steady with the London wool sales and there is slightly more business.
jgj WEEKLY PIG SALE.
PRICES RULING TO-DAY. Prices at the pig sales held in Ashburton to-day were: — Pigs—Baconers 47s 6d to £3 3s 6d, porkers 36s 6d to 475, stores 24s 6d to 255, weaners and slips 14s to 20s. PROPERTIES PASSED IN. Three properties were offered at auction by Mr R. L. Stephenson at his rooms to-day and all were passed in. The property at 57 Walker Street was passed in at £550- one-quarter acre at Cox Street was passed in at £140; and a quarter-acre with dwelling at 12 Princes Street did not bring any bids.
