COST OF LIVING.

INVESTIGATION IN BRITAIN

OVER 13,600 “BUDGETS.”

(United Press Association—-Copyright.) LON ID ON, January 17. The Ministry of Labour states that over 13,600 working class households have supplied “budgets*,” giving a detailed analysis of their expenditure in one week of October or November. As the prices and expenditure- vary at different periods of the year it will be necessary to supplement the information by data relating to other seasons of the year. * The main object of the inquiry is to obtain the data required by the Ministry for revision of the official cost of living index figures. It will also provide information of special value in the consideration of current problems relating to diet and nutrition—British Official Wireless.
