THE LONDON WOOL SALES
PAR TO FIVE PER. CENT. BETTER
{United Press Association—Copyright.! (Received, This Day, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, January 18. The wool sales opened at par to five per cent, better all round, with the exception of short-haired inferior merinos.
The 7792 bales offered included 1479 New Zealand, and 6565 were sold. New Zealand clips sold as follows; — Canterbury slip© half-bred combing lambs, IOJd to 141 d; slipe crossbred combing lambs, 9fd to 13a. There was a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. ' The Home Trade actively sought all the New Zealand greasy crossbreds avait able.
Prices for best scoured and greasy merinos and crossbreds were five per cent, dearer, medium scoured and grfeasy merinos and crossbreds unchanged, and coarse scoured and greasy merinos and crossbreds five per cent, lower than the Closing prices at the last series.
The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice frohi *ts London Office under date January 18.— Sales opened with strong competition. Large attendance of buyers. Prices somewhat irregular compared with close of last series. Superior Crossbreds penny higher, average sorts' par to halfpenny dearer, New Zealand Merinos not represented.
