The Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting was opened at Trentham to-day in sultry weather. There was a large attendance from all parts of New Zealand, and several visitors from Australia. The track carried a strong coating of grass, but it provided fast going. The sum of £46,363 (win £21,265) place £25,098) Was handled, against £43,311 10s (win £19,362 10s, place £23,949) on the corresponding day last year. Concluding results:

Ruapehu Hack Handicap, of £300; six furlongs—l 2-14 Vadanoe (Tattersail) 1, 1-2 Race Call 8.8 (Wiggins) 2, 3-4 Rabble 7.5 (Watson) 3. Won by a neck, a length between second and third. Time, 1.12.
