EMPIRE GAMES TRIALS. THE OTAGO NOMINATIONS. DUNEDIN, November 29. At a meeting of the Sports Committee of the Otago 'Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night the sole selector (Mr It. B. McKernan) announced that he was recommending to the New Zealand. Selection Committee that the following Otago athletes be invited to take part in the Empire Games trials at Wellington on Saturday week: —- 100 yards and 220 yards, C. McGregor and H. D. Ramsay; 440 yards, H. J. Tyrie; 880 yards, T. Allen; one mile, W. A. C. Pullar and T. Allen; three miles and six miles, A. R. Geddes; broad jump and hop, step, and jump, R. G. Pilling; women’s high jump, Miss Betty Forbes (Oamaru). In addition to the above Mr McKernan is also recommending that Miss D. Strachan, of South Canterbury, who performed so brilliantly at the Otago Women’s championships 10 days ng°, be invited to take part in the women’s broad jump and sprint events at the Wellington trials.
