DEMAND FOR COLONIES
GERMANY STATES NEW GROUNDS SUPPORT BY ITALY AND JAPAN. <Fnited Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, November 2. The diplomatic correspondent of the “Daily Herald” says that Herr Hitler will demand colonies on the new ground that she is supported by Italy and Japan as “the principal Allied and Associated Powers.” The German plan is that two of the four Powers who jointly took over the German colonies shall express a wish that the arrangement be revised, and some, at any rate, of the colonies be returned to tlieir former owners.
ITALIAN ATTACK ON MR EDEN.
ATTRIBUTED TO MUSSOLINI. j ' (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) ROME, November 2. Regarded as directly inspired by Signor Mussolini, a statement by the official Italian news agency declares that Italy, to her discredit in Mr Eden’s eyes, has treble guilt in having fought beside the Allies in the Great War, having achieved national unity, and having conquered an empire in Africa by her own efforts and her own blood and having said a word for justice on behalf of the German people. It is pointed out, regarding Africa, that what Italy obtained while England and France were sharing the immense German colonial empire', were truly laughable compensations. The statement adds: “In the archives of the British Foreign Offite Mr Eden can find extremely numerous documents of the Avork done by himself and the British Government to stop Fascist Italy’s forward march. His arguments are therefore of no value whatsoever.”
