STEIN DEFEATS MCKENZIE.
AUCKLAND, May 2.
A professional heavy-weight wrestling contest on Saturday night between Sammy Stein and Dr. Gordon McKenzie, two Americans, ended in favour of Stein, who obtained the only ■fall in the fifth round. After a series of flying tackles, each of which sent his opponent sprawling, Stein had no difficulty in pressing McKenzie’s shoulders to the mat. McKenzie lay in the centre of the ring, but in spite of tlve attention paid to him by his seconds lie had not recovered at the end of the interval and the decision was awarded to Stein. BLOMFIELD AND RICHARDS DRAW. DUNEDIN, May 2. 'Pile opening bout of the wrestling season on Saturday evening between “Lofty” Blomfield and Ray Richards resulted in a draw after a fairly last and willing bout. Richards pinned his opponent in the second round with a body press following a crotch hold and dump, the New Zealander equalising in the last round with an octopus clamp.
