HOUSE DAMAGED.

OUTBREAK SOON SUPPRESSED.

WASHHOUSE BADLY CHARRED

Fire of unknown origin broke out in the washhouse of Mr M. Macmillan’s residence, Cox Street, last evening, and caused a small amount of damage before it was put out. Mr MacMillan and his family were visiting in the country at the time, and the early notification of the outbreak to the brigade was due to the fact that the brigade superintendent .(Mr L. Kidd) resides next door. There was a great deal of smoke in the early stages, and the flames were just breaking through the walls of the rear of the building when the fire engine arrived, blames that reached into the ceiling were the most difficult to suppress.
