WIFE’S COMPLAINT.

HUSBAND ENTICED AWAY. £2500 DAMAGES AWARDED. LONDON, February 3. A wife w r as awarded £2500 damages by the Ulster High Court, which heard in Belfast an action against a wealth}' woman, a follower of the Antrim Hunt, who was alleged to have enticed away the plaintiff’s husband. Mrs Alice Lace gave evidence that when her husband was a huntsman of the Antrim Hunt, she noticed that Mrs Madeline Yvonne Powell, who kept hunters, a ear and servants, became too friendly with him, but, when she remonstrated, Mrs Powell became “cheeky.” The association continued, said plaintiff, and Mrs Powell and her husband spent holidays together three years running. Mrs Powell gave the husband silk underwear, a silk dressinggown, riding boots and a motor-cycle. Plaintiff repeatedly wrote to Mrs Powell, who once replied, threatening to thrash her if she did not leave her alone. The husband lost lids position in consequence of the intrigue. She had recently found him living at Drogheda with Mrs Powell., The judge said that the jury should not give cheeseparing damages. Mrs Powell had committed an outrageous wrong by taking the husband and ending a long and happy married life.
