THE SOUTH AFRICAN CABINET. (United Press Association—Copyright.) CAPE TOWN, February 18. The threatened Cabinet split has been averted. The Prime Minister J. B. M. Hertzog) has issued a statement that the differences between Mr O. Pirow (Minister for Defence) and Mr J. H. Hofmeyer (Minister for the Interior) had been settled after a friendly discussion. Cabinet is meeting to-day. A message published on Thursday stated that an unexpected rift had arisen over the introduction of private hills prohibiting mixed marriages, the employment of Europeans by Asiatics, and, the barring of European women who are married to non-Europeans from inheriting property.
