A woman who recently bought a secretaire at an auction sale for £7 10s discovered in a secret drawer uncut diamonds valued at £3OOO. The drawer was found while the woman was polishing the secretaire. The stones were wrapped in . curious-looking wool. It was found that the wool was of a type which was not grown in Australia, and that it was at least 200 years old. The stones have been sold for £3OOO. It is thought they have been hidden in the drawer many years, during which time the desk changed hands several times.
