The Minister of Labour (Mr Ernest Brown), said that the Government appreciates both Lord Nuffield’s gift itself and the method and manner of giving. One of the trustees (Mr R. Seebolim Rowntree) said that the trustees had power to do things with the money at their disposal, which the Government could not rightly do with public money. These things would be supplementary to the efforts of the Government, and would not in any way he substitutes for Government efforts.
