HIGHLAND BANDS’ DISPLAY.

The great Highland bands’ display at Timaru on November 21 is considered to be the most attractive display ever staged in Ncav Zealand. The function is only 50 miles from Ashburton and there is a special train from Christchurch Avhich will stop and lift Ashburton passengers at 9.50 a.m. The return ticket is only 5s 3d, and there Avill be a return train leaving Timaru at 11.30 p.m., so patrons can have a good day if they so- desire, and will be well catered for, as the same ticket can be used on trains on either Sunday or Monday. The bands taking partin the great display are the City of Christchurch Highland Pipe Band, Ashburton County Pipe Band, Timaru Highland Pipe Band, Canterbury Caledonian Society’s Pipe Band, Mackenzie Highland Pipe Band, and Waimate Highland Pipe Band. There Avill also lie in attendance Miss Molly Doyle, of Invercargill, the youngest _ woman piper, who will play a selection, and four AA’omen champion dancers Avho will dance a Highland reel. Prospective patrons are advised to make sure to see this great event, and to take their families to see a sight that Avill nevei be forgotten. Details are advertised. The executive expects upwards of 10,000 people to be present, and Timaru hotels are busy booking for the function. Some are already full.
