TWO MEN ACCUSED.

ALLEGED THEFT OF WOOL. REMANDS AT TIMARU TO-DAY. Charged with the theft of wool, two men were arrested in Timaru last evening and appeared’ in the Magistrate’s Court there this morning. The men accused were Arthur Alexander Hewson, a fruit dealer, of Geraldine, and Joseph Frederick Uden, of Geraldine. Both were remanded until next Thursday. Hewson was charged with stealing on November 2 two sheep skins, 299 crutcliings, 65 pounds of locks and pieces, 43 pounds of dead wool and 138 pounds of fleeces, valued at £lB Is 3d, the property of William Hewson, of Geraldine. Uden was charged with stealing, about October 2, two sheep skins and a quantity of wool, valued at 9s, the property of a person or persons unknown. Detective Thomas said there would probably be other charges made against Hewson,
