CLARK’S TASMAN FLIGHT. MAY MAKE TRIP TO-MORROW. OFFER TO SEARCH FOR LAUNCH. (United' Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The New Zealand “flying fanner,” Mr E. L. Clark is unable to take off to-day on his flight across the Tasman, as the. weather is most unfavourable,, but he entertains hopes of leaving tomorrow between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. He has received consent to leave from the Air Force aerodrome at Richmond. Clark received a cablegram from New Zealand yesterday saying that his sheep are wet, and shearing has therefore been postponed. Consequently there is not the same need to hurry home. In the meantime Mr Clark has offered his services for a search by air for the missing launch Viking. The offer has been gratefully accepted by the Board of Control of Lord Howe Island, and the matter is now in the hands of the Minister for Defence (Sir Archdale Parkhill), who is at Canberra. In that event Mr Clark will fly to Lord Howe Island and back, carefully searching the ocean. He will take provisions and waterbags in case he should sight the crew. NO REPLY TO HIS OFFER. (Received This Day, 1.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Mr L. E. Clark has so far received no communication from the Minister of Defence regarding his offer to search for the Viking. Mr Clark added that he could not take a course via Lord Howe Island in flying to New Zealand as it would endanger his prospects of landing in New Zealand by daylight.
