C.J.C. MEETING. SUCCESS FOR MANDAMUS. (Special to the “Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 11. Following drizzling rain during the night and gloomy sides in the morning the weather cleared soon 9 aitei mid-day yesterday, and conditions tor the third day of the C.J.C. Metropolitan meeting showed a great improvement on those of the two previous days. , . . The Oaks resulted m a decisive win for Top Notch, who was patiently ridden, and paid quite a good dividend. She gave fair Charles Clilford his sixth win at the meeting. Trench Fight increased the score to seven by narrowly defeating Plato in tiie Jockey Club Handicap, giving his owner his second win in the race, which Sir George won on seven occasions. Wild Chase carried on by annexing the Canterbury Cup, and lifting his owner’s innings for the season to £4899 10s. The totalisator investments amounted to £38,250, compared with £22,070 on the corresponding day last year, when the weather was had. Concluding results:— Jockey Club Handicap, of £500; one mile. —1 (1) Trench Fight (Humphries) 1, 4 (4) Plato 2, 3 (3) Dungarvan 3. Won by a neck. Time, 1.38 1-5. United Press Association —Copyright; SYDNEY, November 11. At the Ascot races E. Bartle, having his first ride since he was suspended a year ago in company with J. TJamieson on account of the running of Country Party in Melbourne, won a division of a pony race on the former Victorian filly, Manamah. Bartle received an ovation from the crowd. The Lhnond gelding, Miramond, after many failures, returned to the winning list by narrowly defeating Royal Promise in the Ascot Handicap. Prince ;Pombal, after running unplaced in the Mascot Welter Mile, was third in the Flying Handicap. Kow Tow and Royal Helena were unplaced in the three-year-old handicap.
