GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, November 9. The demand for fowl wheat and oats is sustained, with both lines in fairly short supply. The present ram will have the effect of easing up the market. In the main, the market is quiet and is normal for the time of the year. The following are prices to be paid to growers, free of commission, on trucks, at country stations, sacks extra:— Potatoes —Whites, £4 103 to £4 15s; Dakotas, £6 to £6 ss; Sutton s, £6. Wheat Milling: Tuscan 4s lOd Hunters ss, Pearl 5s 2d. All quotations f.o.b. ~ . Fowl Wheat—G.w.f. 4s 4d, undergrade 3s 6d to 4s 2d (according to quality). WOOL IN SOUTH AMERICA. HIGH PRICES AT AUCTIONS. NEW YORK, November 8. Buenos Aires wool prices reached new high levels last week uuler a heavy demand, absorbing large consignments of both coarse and fine crossbreds as fast as they appeared on the market. The year’s record was established for a. lot of 1231 b of clean, high quality merino of the Australian type, which sold at 34 cents. A larger consignment of coarse crossbreds brought the record price of 20} cents. A lot of 125,0001 b of fine crossbred from the Ohubut territory, in Patagonia, set a record for this type at 32} cents. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. KEEN DEMAND MAINTAINED. SYDNEY, November 9. At the wool sales 12,617 bales were offered, 12,220 were sold at auction, and 2075 privately. In a keen market prices for good to average sorts advanced 5 per cent, on closing rates of last week. Values for the very best were firm at Thursday’s rates. Comebacks and crossbreds shared in the improvement. Chief support

NEW FERTILISER COMPANY. ■P R OPOSED AT WHANG ARE I. (Per Press Association.} WHANGAREI, November 9. At a meeting attended by representatives of 70 dairy companies today it was resolved to recommend the directorates of dairy companies in the north, to take part in the formation of a Northland Co-operative Fertiliser Cbmpany, with works at Kaoreroa, the deep-water port of Whangarei. The capital of the company is to be £225,000, of which £105,000 is to be subscribed by dairy companies over a period of five years. The various directorates were urged to take steps at the earliest moment, to obtain power for their companies to take shares in the proposed company if they did not now possess that power.
