MOORS’ RECKLESS CHARGES.
FAIL TO CROSS THE BRIDGES. LOYALISTS' STRONG POSITION. (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, November 9. Despite the Moors’ reckless charges and prolonged bombardment, the rebels failed to cross the bridges leading to the centre of Madrid. They are still held lip by elaborate concrete trenches manned by troops well-equipped with machine guns. The position of the Government ■forces is so strong here that the lebel planes, hithero used sparingly to avoid damage to the city, were to-day ordered to make a full attack. Soon the batriefront along the river was blotted out by the great screen of exploding bombs, interspersed with hursts of shells from the massed batteries, but the deathdealing hail failed to dislodge the militiamen. . General Castejon was wounded, and sent to hospital, where he is recovering. The British Embassy announces that all seeking refuge must be indoors by 6 p.m.
