AIR DEFENCE.

BRITISH ADVISOR ARRIVES. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nk>v. 8. “Like other countries, New Zealand has been brought to regard aviation as an essential service in her national defence problem, and I have been invited by the Government to study the existing air force here and to offer advice on defence matters,” said WingCommander the Hon. R. A. Cochrane, A.F.C., who arrived by the Mataroa. “Finance will prove the greatest necessity in building up a proper service, but keen and proficient officers will also cast their influence in the matter,” he added, declining to comment further on the object of his visit, which he anticipates will last some months.
