Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., returned to Ashburton from Wellington this morning.
Messrs H. Watts (chairman) and W. Crawford (principal) will represent the Ashburton Technical High School Board at the annual conference of the New Zealand Technical Education Association at Wellington on Tuesday. They will leave for the north on Monday evening. Miss M. Maddever, a member of the Dominion Executive of the Federation of Women’s Institutes, in reply to an invitation from the Mid-Canterbury Executive, will arrive in Ashburton tomorrow and will conduct a handicraft school for two days in Ashburton and for one at Mothvcn. She will be the guest of Airs F. Curtis (president of the Mid-Canterbury Federation).
Appointments of teachers confirmed by the Canterbury Education Board at its meeting yesterday, were:—Ashburton : Miss A. C. Thomas; Ashburton East: Miss W. Gardner and Miss K. I. Tarrant; Fairton: Miss E. E. Parson; Flemington: Mr L. A. Heyward. The following resignations were accepted:— Ashburton: Miss 11. Clark (New Brighton) ; Little Jtakaia : Miss J. 11. Snedden (Lyttelton); St. Andrews: Miss D ! . E. Knox (Allcnton).
