A DOUBLE CHARGE.
man accused of burglary. (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, September 9. A man, who was arrested in Wellington at the week-end, appeared before Justices of the Peace this morning, charged with burglary at Napier, and also attempting to commit suicide. The accused, John Eric Alfred Chapman, belongs to Napier, and is 23 years of age. It was stated in Court that during the process of giving a statement to detectives accused attempted to stab himself with a bradawl. The prisoner was remanded for a week, the police making a request for special treatment of accused when in gaol. '
