Leveson-Gower’s Eleven in its match against the M.C.C. team owed nearly everything to a furiously hard-hitting partnership which added 111 runs in 48 minutes for the sixth wicket by R. INDIA’S DRAWN MATCH. (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 7. The cricket match, All India _v. Chan’s Eleven was drawn, play having been confined to one day owing to rain. India in the first innings scored 242 for nine and declared (Muslvtaquli 83). Chan’s Eleven in the first innings scored 138 for six.
TO PLAY BASEBALL. CONTRACTS: FOR TATE AND HENDREN. LONDON, September 7. The “Daily Mirror” says that “Patsy” Hendren and Maurice Tate are forsaking cricket, for professional baseball. Hendren is signing a contract to 1 play full-time for the White City in
the 1937 season. He is playing only in Sunday matches during the present season in order not to interfere with his existing cricket contracts. Tate has agreed to similar conditions. Baseball is becoming increasingly popular. Thirteen thousand people watched a game between the White City and West Ham on September 5.
