THE WEATHER.
WARM AND SUNNY AFTER FROST After cold conditions yesterday, followed by a frost of nine degrees this morning, the sun shone brightly in Ashburton to-day. The temperature was warm, and the sky cloudless, with only a light north-westerly breeze. The maximum temperature yesterday was 46 degrees, and the inside minimum last night 25.5 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 29.87 inches, compared with 29.81 inches yesterday morning.
TO-DAY'S FORECAST, (Per Press Association.l WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the woather:— General inference: An anticyclone is centred north of the Bay of Plenty, but a depression covers the western Tasman Sea and is moving slowly eastward. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to strong northerly winds, rising in places later to gale force. Weather fair to fine and mild but rain probable later in western ranges. Seas moderate but rising.
