WATERSIDERS REFUSE WORK.

OBJECTION TO A LATE START, i DIFFERENCE AT LYTTELTON. (Per Press Association.) OHRISTCHTJRCH, This Day. Watersidars at Lyttelton refused to start work on the overseas vessel Hertford to-day, because they were not engaged from 8 o’clock. The weather was squally just before eight and the ship's agent did not engage men for an S o’clock start. However, at 8 o’clock the weather cleared and the agend decided to engage men for 8,15, but the men refused to start. It was then decided to start at 9.30, but once more the men refused. The Dispute Committee met, but the men announced that they would not start till to-morrow. The vessel is now idle.
