YORKSHIRE BEATS M.C.C. (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, September 4. Yorkshire defeated the M.C.C. team by an innings and 95 runs. The County in the first innings made 441. Marylelxme replied, with 186 and, following on, 160. In the first innings Hutton took four wickets for 25 and in the second innings four for 52. Verity took five for 41.
ENGLAND AND INDIA DRAW.
AMES’ RECORD CENTURY. (ReccivetT This Day, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, September 4. The cricket match England versus All India was drawn. The English eleven in the first
innings scored 377 and in. the second 212 for three (declared), Woolley making 79 and Ames 107. India in the first innings scored 372 (Wazir Ali 155 not out) and in the second 152 for one (Merchant 64 not out, Hussain 69 not out). Ames reached his century in 68 minutes, breaking Kempton’s record of 70 minutes. It is the season’s fastest century. Ames hit a six and 13 fours.
