TOWN DYNAMITED.
HOUSE-TO-HOUSE FIGHTING. REBELS TAKE NO PRISONERS. ALL HOSTAGES EXECUTED. (■Received This Day, 0-40 a.m.) LONDON, September 4. A message from Hendaye says that the loyalist resistance at I run was as heroic as it was hopeless. The fiercest house-to-house fighting continued this morning, militiamen iemaining in houses until they were bombed out. As the survivors retired they lighted fuses, exploding dynamite. An unconfirmed report states that all hostages were executed at Fort Gaudaloupe, where the Archbishop of Valladolid was detained. Eyewitnesses on the French frontier, report that explosions occurred all the afternoon, followed by fierce fires as the Loyalists were carrying out their threat to dynamite the town. It seemed impossible that a single soul could come out alive from this hell. No prisoners were taken as the rebels were killing everyone found bearing arms. The Fiench rushed up 150 soldiers to
prevent the rebels pursuing Loyalists across the frontier. Port Guadaloupe is still in the hands of the Loyalists who are shelling the rebel lines continuously. The assault on Irun was almost wholly carried out by Moors and foreign legionaries. The British destroyer Comet is standing by. Five thousand refugees are now in Hendaye alone.
