“SLIPPERY SAM”
LONG SERIES OF BURGLARIES.
OFFENDER TO BE SENTENCED.
(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, September 2. The depredations, over a period of three years, of a burglar who was commonly reputed to be “Slippery Sam,” were cleared up in the Police Court to-day, when Victor Roydon Curline, a tinsmith, pleaded guilty to 32 charges of breaking, entering and theft from dwellings, five charges of theft, and one charge of being in possession of an unregistered revolver.
The Court was littered with a collection of articles, ranging from vases and decanters to eiderdown and quilts. The total value of good's stolen was £474.
One of accused’s most audacious burglaries was at Mosgiel, where he removed a load of furniture delivered the previous night by a man who had shifted from Dunedin.
On the indictable charges accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
