MOTOR-CYCLING.

THE ASHBURTON CLUB. THE HALF-YEARLY PROGRAMME. The committee of the Ashburton Motor-cycle Club -held its monthly meeting on Tuesday evening. The president (Mr R. M. Chambers) presided over a full attendance. Eleven new members were elected. Messrs R. Dunn, E. G. Leask, and S. M. Robertson were elected to the committee. Samples of jerseys were submitted and it was decided to place an order. The half-yearly programme was drawn up as follows: September 13—Opening run, Seaview. October 27—McLennan’s Bush. October 11—Motukarara. November I—Peel Forest. November 22 —Grass hill climb. December 13—Scott scramble. To commemorate the twenty-first birthday of the club, a committee was appointed to make arrangements for a grand birthday ball. The club was formed on September 3, 1915, and is one of the oldest motor-cycle clubs in New Zealand. Mr J. R. Leask, who is leaving on a business trip to Australia, was granted leave of absence for two months. Mr E. G. Leask presented a helmet and a pair of goggles for competition, and it was decided to award them to the novice gaining most points at the opening run and the grass hill climb.
