COUNTY CENTRES

(From Our Own Correspondents.)

WILLOWBY.

METHODIST SEWING GUILD. The Methodist Parsonage Sewing Guild met in the Church Vestry yesterday afternoon. Mrs Avery presided and conducted devotional exercises. The secretary (Mrs Griffith) reported on the progress of the sewing stall. On behalf of members and friends Mrs S. H. Lill presented Mrs A. Hillyer, who is leaving the district shortly, with a silver-mounted cake stand, and Mrs F. H. Chapman handed her a posy of spring flowers. Several ladies spoke of the regret felt at losing so helpful a member and wished Mrs Hillyer and family success in their new home. On behalf of the Sunday School Class, Mrs F. H. Chapman presented Miss Helen Hillyer with a cup, saucer and plate. Afternoon tea was served oil a more elaborate manner than usual to mark the occasion. Combined Bible Classes. The fortnightly meeting of the combined Bible Classes met at the Parsonage last evening. The Rev. W. Avery presided over a good attendance. The study was mountain-top vision. Mrs Avery provided supper at the close of the meeting. The final meeting for the year will combine with the final meeting of the Mutual Improvement Society on September 16, when Mr Avery will give a lecture on daffodil and bulb culture.
