TINWALD STOCK MARKET. THE CONCLUDING SALES. Concluding sales at the stock market at the Tinwald yards yesterday ■were: Store Sheep—On account of clients, 49 ewe hoggets at 32s 4d, 25 at 31s, 68 ewes at 20s, 38 at 265, 80 lialfbred ewes at 30s 2d, 64 three-quarterbred ewes at 30s. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, September 1. Local supplies of potatoes are fairly plentiful at the moment and the price of Whites has been dropped 5s a ton to £8 7s 6d. Dakotas are less plentiful and are quoted at a premium of 10s. The onion market is very quiet and local stocks of Californian and Japanese are still in the hands of merchants, and a further shipment of Californian is due to arrive next Monday. These have been sold “to arrive” at 17s a bag, which is above present through store price. Horse feed is selling steadily at late rates, B Garton oats at 4s 3d a bushel, and southern chaff at £8 17s 6d a. ton. The market for fowl wheat is very steady, with southern holders firm. There is a good demand in Auckland at about 6s 2d a bushel for graded lines. Maize is still very scarce and dear. The harvest, both in the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne districts, is obviously short, and holders are apparently under the impression that prices will goi still higher. However, the present rate, 6s 9d a bushel, through store, is out of proportion to other grains, and any increase would still further curtail consumption, especially as maize never sells so freely in warm weather. SYDNEY WOOL SALES. YORKSHIRE AND GERMANY BUYING. SYDNEY, September 1. At the Sydney wool sales to-day 8205 bales were offered and 6656 sold; also 2347 privately. The market was firm at the opening day’s levels for best descriptions, but average to inferior were irregular. Yorkshire and Germany were again the principal buyers, and there was good support from France. The Japanese did not operate.
