(Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, September 1. Sussex defeated India by eight wickets. In the first innings the County scored 479 (John Langridge 168, Melville 152) and in the second 71 for two. India’s scores were 309 (Hussain 122) and 239 (Hussain 50). KENT BEATS MARYLEBONE. (Received This Dtay, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, September 1. Kent defeated Marylebone by five wickets. Marylebone scored 96 and 426 (Stephenson 73, Watkins 115, Eledrich 112). Kent scored 342 for five declared (Todd 73, Valentine not out 100), and 182 for five (Ames 71). VERITY’S 200TH WICKET. (Received This D ! ay, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 1. Taking six for 74 against Hampshire, H. Verity (Yorkshire), with a total of 201 wickets, became the only bowler to take 200 wickets during 1936.
