POLAND AND FRANCE.
RENEWED ALLIANCE DESIRED ALARM AT GERMAN! REARMING PARIS, August 31. The restoration of the Franco-Polish alliance is believed to be the underlying objective of a brief visit of General Rydzsmigly (Inspector-General of the Polish army), who interviewed the Premier, M. Blum), and the Foreign Minister (M. Delbos). Well-informed circles state that General Rydzsmigly gave France important assurances foreshadowing an important change in Poland’s foreign policy. The newspaper, “Midi,” says: “Poland is very disturbed by German rearmament and is ready to seek new military guarantees from France. We must do everything possible to see that General Rydzsmigly returns to Warsaw with a feeling of success. General Rydzsmigly left for Rlieims to watch the French Army manoeuvres. RE-ARMAMENT LOAN SOUGHT. FRANCE SYMPATHETIC .... ■* LONDON, August 31. The Paris correspondent of the “News-Chronicle” says that General Rydzsmigly is discussing a French loan of £40,000,000 to finance Polish rearmament. Eighty per cent, can be spent on armament contracts with France, and the remainder devoted to construction of armament factories. It is understood that France is listening sympathetically as refusal would risk throwing Poland into the arms of Germany.
