THE WEATHER.
MILD BUT OVERCAST CONDITIONS. The weather in Ashburton to-day was fine and mild, with the sky fairly heavily overcast throughout the morn,ing. There was only a light wind from the north-east. A shower of rain fell early in the morning, three points being recorded,. The maximum temperature yesterday was 59.6 degrees ami the inside minimum last night 40.9 degrees. There was no frost this morning. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 29.80 inches, compared with 29.88 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.} WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : General inference: Pressure is very high east of the Dominion, but a deep depression covers the Tasman Sea, its centre being near Tasmania. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to fresh north-easterly to northerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast and mild, with misty rain at times. Seas moderate.
