WELLINGTON WOOL SALE.

GOOD PRICES FOR FLEECE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 18. Remarkably good prices were recorded at the winter sale of wool and crutchings held to-day by the Wellington Wool Brokers’ Association. The offering of approximately 3300 bales, comprising about 2450 bales of crutchings and 350 bales of fleece wool, was smaller than usual, and there was a very good clearance, the relatively few passings being mostly of fleece wools. Several brokers remarked that the prices made for crutchings were! the best for several years. Compared with those of the corresponding sale last year, the prices of crutchings showed an average advance of from 4d to 2d per lb. Many of the' fleece wools sold showed a substantial rise on the prices of April, the decline of to |d at that sale compared with March prices being more than recovered. There was a full betieh of buyers, and competition throughout the auction was spirited. Some good orders were filled for Japan, the United States and other overseas interests, while' local mills and scourers were strong buyers. * The top price was 10§d for two bales of super crutchings sold under the brand Eone. A number of lots made lOd to 10|d and the’re were numerous runs of 9£d to 9|d. . The official range of prices for crutchings is as follow: — d. d. Merino crutchings —to 6^ Halfbred crutchings to Crossbred crutchings: Super 9| to 10§ Medium to good 8 to 9^ Seedy and inferior 6 to 8 Crossbred pieces and bellies ... to 9 Locks and stained piece's ... 4 to 6^
