PALMER-ROSENBLOQM BOUT. TWELVE ROUNDS STIPULATED. (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Ambrose palmer has stipulated that his fight with Maxie Rosenbloom should be limited to twelve rounds. Jack Munro (manager of the Sydney Stadium) telegraphed to Palmer in Melbourne indicating that a twelveround bout was not acceptable to the press and, public and advising Palmer to agree to fifteen rounds; otherwise Rosenbloom will) sail by the Mariposa to-morrow. Palmer replied to Mr Munro that he will not box more than twelve rounds in any contest. ROMERO’S EARNINGS. AMERICAN MANAGER’S CLAIM. (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The Stadium authorities announce that Henneberry will receive his share of the gate but Romero’s share will be withheld. The reason why the fight was declared no contest is because of a Stadium rule that no contest shall end on a. foul. As a sequel to the fight, an application was made in the Equity Court this morning for a temporary injunction to restrain the National Boxing Club from paying to Romero one-third of his share of the gate money. The application was made by Mr J. G. Riddle, as attorney for Albert Donaldson, of Los Angeles, claiming to be Romero’s manager. It was alleged, that Romero had contracted in 1934 to pay to Donaldson one-third of his earnings in all the contests arranged for him. Romero, according to Donaldson, left America without the latter’s consent and entered into a contract with the National Boxing Club without making provision for Donaldson, as he was bound to do. The Court granted the application. PETERSEN’S QUICK DEFEAT. LONDON, August 17. Jack Petersen’s quick defeat by Ben Foord (South Africa) in a British and Empire heavy-weight championship bout at Leicester w r as the year’s biggest boxing surprise, but there was no mistaking the completeness of Foord’s unexpected, victory. The critics agree that Petersen was thrashed as he has never been thrashed before. “The Times” says: “Rarely has a
champion been so thoroughly demolished. Foord hit so hard in the third round that he fractured a bone in his right hand.” CANTERBURY CHAMPIONS. CHRISTCHURCH, August 18.
