MANY PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS. :Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Aug. 17. William Joseph Gee, alias Bain, a half-caste Chinese, aged 32, who escaped from the local police. lock-up on August ‘2, pleaded guilty to this charge and also to two charges of the theft of cycles. [He was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment on each charge, the terms to be: concurrent. A detective said that accused had a long list of convictions and was awaiting sentence at Wellington on four charges of breaking, entering and theft.

The magistrate said that accused would be lucky if the Supreme Court did not declare him an habitual criminal.
