WOOL FOR JAPAN.

NO IMPORT FROM AUSTRALIA. SUPPLY FROM OTHER SOURCES. (United Press Association—Copyright.) TOKIO, July 28. The Minister of Commerce (Mr Ogawa) told Cabinet that he had no objection to the resumption of trade parleys with Australia, but he would not grant a licence for the importation of Australian wool. . 1 ‘There is plenty of wool jji stociv, with additional supply coming from other • sources,” said Mr Ogawa. I hope there will be satisfactory substitutes in a year of two.” . The Tokio newspaper “Asaki ’ gives prominence to arguments in favour of reviving the Anglo-Japanese friendship and draws attention to the co-op-erative responsibility of England and Japan in maintaining peace in view of their unshakable position in the West and the East. It adds: ‘The Government has decided on an AngloJapanese entente. Britain s vested rights in China will be respected, but it is regrettable that she still fails to understand the gravity of Japanese interests there. Japan will continue her efforts to reach an understanding recarding Empire trade, with which officials agree. Many influential Japanese favour the renewal of the AngloJapanese agreement, which is .opposed chiefly bv business circles, which complain'of‘the obstacles encountered by their exports on Dominion and colonial markets.
