Morrison (Financial Secretary to the Treasury) stated in the House of Commons that the Cliantellor of the Exchequer (Air Neville Chamberlain) had received specified proposals from the Cunard-Wliite Star Company, and had agreed that advances should bo made for building a sister ship to the Queen Alary. ' The company had supplied evidence showing clearly the technical and commercial considerations for which it should place a contract with John Brown and Company, builders of the Queen Alary, and the Chancellor had agreed to that course. The Cunard Company in its statement said the new ship would he known as No. 552 while under construction, which would give employment to about 7000 men directly at Clydebank, and indirectly to about 300,000 others. The keel will probably he laid down at the end of August, and it is hoped the ship will be launched at the end of 1937, and be ready for the Atlantic service in the summer of 1939. —British Official AYireless.
