Liability for the loss of the right eye of David Bett, aged: 23, consequent on a, motor—car collision on the Hast-ings-Napier highway on» Easter Saturday, was admitted by Moss Wylie, 9. Hastings dentist, before Mr Justice Smith and a jury to-day, when Bett claimed £4500 damages. ’ The court had to assess the damages. l Defendant admitted that the collision had been caused by his negligence. The defence offered no evidence, and after three-quarters of an hour of deliberation the jury awarded £2276 ls 7d damages. '
