Tourists who returned to Sydney in the \Vanganella after the cruise to the Islands, said that they saw many evidences of the penetration of Japanese into the Southern Pacific, and that the French people were deeply concerned with the steady infiltration of Japanese into New Caledonia. .
Mr A. S‘. Fandry, M.L.A.,' said that gambling was unrestricted in Noumea. Roulette wheels were in fulh swing in the town sciuare. Almost every game of chance was conducted by the J apanese, Whose wives assisted by handing out as prizes goods “made in Japan.”
