Seven thousand athletes from most countries, including the United States, will take part in a. “people’s Olympic games” in replv to the Nazi propaganda. for the Olympic Games in Berlin. The exhibition, grounds will be transformed into a sportsmen’s city. France is sending more than 1000 athletes and Soviet Russia 100, which is the largest team ever sent out of Russia.

BEARING_TORCH TO BERLIN.

ATHENS, July 18,

Large crowds are expected to be present at the lighting of the Olympic torch, which will be carried by runners to Berlin. King George of Greece will not attend but will watch a special ceremony at the stadium at Athens. A cavalcade of charabancs and motors will follow the relay runners, whci will be given a civic welcome at a host of Greek towns until they reach the frontier.

BROTHER AND SISTER IN BRITISH TEAM. LONDON, July 18. A brother and sister were unprecedentedly included in the Olympic Games with the inclusion of Miss A. Brown, sister of A. G. K. Brown, as a sprinter in the British women’s Olympic team, after gaining third place in the British 100 metres championship. •

JAPANESE SWIMMER COLLAPSES.

RESULT OF OVER-TRAINING

LONDON, July 17. The Berlin correspondent of the Australian Associated Press says that a sensation was caused at the Olympic swimming rsool when the Japanese champion, Yuso, broke down and collapsed after swimming a few yards. Ho is suffering from shoulder trouble due to excessive'training. Arai, the fast Japanese swimmer, is also showing a tendency to fall off for thb same reason.
